SIM Box Detection in two steps

SIM Box Detection is a fully implemented feature. The Concept follows a very cost-effective strategy: at the first step, SIM Box Detection tests generate results without the necessity to establish a Speech channel. This allows a high test density without possible network congestion. These results lay the foundation for step two: narrowing down the

probability of SIM boxes being in operation on certain routes by identifying SUSpicious MSISDNS. Once SIM boxes have been identified, the operator can then block these SUSpicious SIMs. Trace files and additional tools provide the option to identify the actual SIM box location, allowing operators to fight back on revenue.

Situation:

  • The A-Party at the visited country (VPMN)
  • calls the B-Party at the home country (HPMN)revenue.

Normal Situation:

The call is being fowarded through an international roming network and teminated at your home network (HPMN).

Detour situation:

The international call is intercepted and terminated by a SIM box located in your home country (HPMN). The call is transferred to the B-party by a SIM box, e.g. transforming the original international call into a domestic call whilst bypassing your network.
